No more hitting the gas for operators - Safe LP Gas Disitributors Network South Africa
Tuesday 17 September

A rogue illegal liquefied petroleum gas operator was caught by the Matjhabeng authorities on 16 April. He was operating his “business” from a municipal property near Warriors Club in Welkom. The truck was impounded and the authorities found that the driver had no licence, nor did the truck have the relevant paperwork for gas.

It was also found that the truck itself had no valid licence. The municipality is starting to clamp down on illegal gas operators, and hefty fines will be issued, and vehicles and equipment will be impounded, says an informed source at the municipality.

He says because many people are switching over to gas, there has been an increase in rogue gas sellers. The municipality will also be clamping down on people who transport diesel on small trailers behind their vehicles.
